Connect 1:Goto et route
Route
Whether you want to add an XC or race route, the first few steps are the same. In the menu Prep, you find the section Routes. At first you find an empty screen with a plus symbol at the bottom right. Tap on it and select the route type cross country (symbolised with two waypoints) or race (symbolised with a race flag). Then enter the route name, the default is given by the current date.
You then enter a sub-menu of the route you have just created. The name of your route is always displayed at the top of the screen. Add waypoints by clicking on the plus at the bottom right. After tapping on the plus, you also have the option to edit the sources from which to choose waypoints by tapping on the list sign. Ces ressources sont les fichiers balises qui vous avez téléchargés via USB ou bien les balises qui vous avez crées created manuellement (dénotés dans la mémoire du Connect un comme « internal »).
If you have not previously selected a source, your waypoint list will appear empty and is populated, after you have selected one or several sources.
Note: when adding a waypoint for a race route, you are prompted to enter a radius. You can also edit this later.
Note: If you have several pages of waypoints, you scroll with the + and - keys. The number of pages, and which one you are on, is always displayed at the bottom right.
Any routes you save, appear in the menu Routes and are marked by the type you have chosen. See just below for more specifics about XC and race routes.
Once you have added a route, it will appear in your list in the Routes menu. The cross country routes are marked with a 2-waypoint symbol. If you tap on a particular route in the menu, you highlight it and you can edit it (pencil), delete it (bin) and most importantly activate it (tick). When the route is activated, it will appear in inverted colours in your list. When editing the route (or while adding waypoints the first time as described above), you can add new waypoints or edit existing ones by tapping on them. You can move the position of the waypoint up or down with the arrows or delete the waypoint.
Race routes
Once you have added a route, it will appear in your list in the Routes menu. Race routes are marked with a racing flag symbol. If you tap on a particular route in the menu, you highlight it and you can edit it (pencil), delete it (bin) and most importantly set start and end times (clock), and activate it (tick). When the route is activated, it will appear in inverted colours in your list.
Note: You can activate the race route only, if a start time has been set.
When editing the route (or while adding waypoints the first time as described above), you can add new waypoints or edit existing ones by tapping on them. You can move the position of the waypoint up or down with the arrows or delete the waypoint as well as set particular race-related parameters:
- Start of speed section / end of speed section: Assign these to a turnpoint with the double arrows facing right (SSS) and left (ESS).
- Radius: Edit the radius by tapping on the radius symbol.
- Cylinder type: Choose between entry or exit cylinder - tapping on the symbol with a 3/4 circle and arrow will toggle between the two.
- Goal type: If you tap on the final turnpoint, the cylinder symbol is replaced with a symbol for goal type. Tap on it to toggle between line, half circle and full circle.
A complete race route will therefore show you start, beginning and ends of speed sections, goal, as well as turnpoints in between. Each turnpoint is annotated with its radius and the distance of the particular leg, and whether it's and entry or exit cylinder.
Good luck at the competition!
A route in flight
The are various flight screens to show you different information in flight. Once you have created and activated a route, there are some adjustments you can make in flight, for example skipping a waypoint.
Goto
